THE GEORGE RENWICK MEMORIAL MEDAL to be held for one year will be awarded to the leading qualifier with the best scratch score over 36 holes on the 23rd June, 2012, who takes part in the match play stages of the County Championship, with a prize to the value of £75. In the event of a tie Rule 4 (d) will decide the winner. Qualifying shall be over 36 holes stroke play with the leading sixteen qualifiers taking part in the match play stages. In the event of a tie for the last qualifying place, it shall be decided by hole by hole match play “sudden death” over the 1st, 2nd,17th and 18th holes.
A draw will be made and the match play stages will take place over 18 holes on the evenings of Wednesday, June 27th, 28th,and 29th. The final will be played in the morning and afternoon of Saturday, June 30th , over 36 holes. In the event of a tie in any of the rounds in the match play, the competitors shall play hole by hole over the 1st, 2nd, 17th, and 18th holes until a decision is reached. Competitors must play an approved ball. Players must possess an active handicap. Players with an inactive handicap may take part to record cards for handicap but cannot play in the matchplay stages and may not take a prize.

The entrance fee is £15. No entry fee will be refunded once the draw has been published.
Competitors will, by courtesy of Newbiggin Golf Club, (please ring 01670 817 344 ) be allowed a free practise round on the course.
Competitors wishing to play must book a time several days prior to arrival.
DRESS:- Competitors wearing Jeans, Tee-Shirts, Shorts, or Trainer Shoes, will not be allowed on the course, and the Clubhouse dress rules of the Host Club will apply.
NO SIT ON BUGGIES PERMITTED unless with a medical certificate certifying an inability to walk 36 holes.
QUALIFICATION OF COMPETITORS:- To be eligible to compete a player:-
(a) Must be of amateur status as defined by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.
(b) Must be a member of an affiliated Golf Club in Northumberland or must have been born in Northumberland and be a member of an affiliated Club in another County.
(c) Must not have taken part in a Golf Championship of another County Union or have represented another County Union at golf since Jan 1st, 2012.
The Union reserves the right to restrict the number of entries, and shall also determine the starting times.
