1st 2nd Division Teams Championship

Today, Blyth Golf Club hosted the 1st and 2nd Divisions Team Championship, on a bright sunny day at the coast. The course presented a tough test, with the firm ground conditions putting a premium on hitting the fairways.

The second Division was won by a Morpeth Team, led by the evergreen Sandy Twynholm, with Nick Thorne and Phil Graham making up the Side. Dan Beeson shot a 2nd Division best gross of 70. Promoted to the 1st Division along with Morpeth were, Whitley Bay, Backworth and Prudhoe.

The 1st Division went down to the last hole, with the City of Newcastle Team of, Andrew Minnikin, Karl Mossom and Phil Ridden edging out Hexham by a single stroke. Phil Ridden picked up the best gross prize, after carding a 1 under par total of 139.

Relagated were, Longhirst, Alnmouth and Gosforth.

We wish the City well when they contest the National Finals at Ealing Golf Club in September.

A final thanks to Blyth Golf Club and their members for giving up the course today, the course as in great condition, we must thank the Greenstaff too.
