After a great week at Bedlingtonshire GC for the County Championships we have our winner, Stewart Fell form Tynemouth GC who beat James Conn from The Northumberland GC in the final.

After a great week at Bedlingtonshire GC for the County Championships we have our winner, Stewart Fell form Tynemouth GC who beat James Conn from The Northumberland GC in the final.

To reach the final, Stewart defeated Paul Caldicott, James Cram and Sam Westwood. James defeated Cameron Stott, Mark Wharton and Alex Buchanan

Saturday June the 18th saw one of the largest fields over the last few years, with over 80 players starting in the 36 hole qualifying rounds, trying to get through to the matchplay stages.

Andrew minnikin won the Renwick Medal for the best gross score over the qualifying rounds with 69-70 for a 7 under par total of 139.

There were 5 players on +5 and this required a play off for the last 3 places in the matchplay stages.

On Wednesday 22nd June the 16 players who qua lifted started the matchplay stages and the quarter and semi finals were played on Thursday and Friday. With the two finalist being Stewart Fell from Tynemouth GC and James Conn from the Northumberland GC.

The 36 hole final was played on Saturday 25th June on another breezy day. Stewart fell was the eventual winner.

Congratulations to all the competitors but a special congratulations go to Stewart Fell, our new County Champion
